A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is required for every rental. No COI, no pickup. No exceptions. It's due by 12:00 PM Central on the business day before pickup, and coverage must run from pickup through return.

  • General liability: at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate, naming Fox Frame Productions LLC as Additional Insured.
  • Equipment coverage (inland marine): the full replacement value of the rented equipment, all-risk, naming Fox Frame Productions LLC as Loss Payee. It must cover gear in transit and in unattended vehicles.
  • Auto liability: at least $1,000,000 (owned, hired, and non-owned) if the gear travels by vehicle.
  • Workers' compensation: as required by law for anyone operating the equipment.
  • Endorsements: primary and noncontributory, and waiver of subrogation.
  • Deductible: no more than $2,500 per occurrence.

Don't have a production policy? Short-term policies are available from Johnsonese Brokerage (Chicago), Athos, Front Row, and others, usually priced per project. We're happy to send our requirements straight to your broker.

Our minimum rental is $250, before insurance and any add-ons. This applies whether you're renting one item or several. Smaller add-on items (cards, batteries, accessories) can be combined with a larger rental but aren't rented on their own.

Every item lists its day rate. Longer rentals: 3 days bill at 2.5× the day rate, and a week bills at 3× the day rate. A weekend (Friday pickup, Monday return) bills as a single day. Your quote confirms the total.

Pickup is by appointment from our space in Archer Heights, Chicago. Each item is checked out with you in person. We walk through the gear, confirm condition, and answer setup questions before you leave.

Returns are also by appointment. Plan for 30 to 60 minutes to receive and check the gear. Returns must be inside the return window on your equipment schedule.

We don't ship gear, and we don't currently offer delivery.

Late returns are billed at 1.5× the daily rate for each day or partial day past the scheduled return. Gear not returned within 7 days of the return date is treated as lost or stolen and billed at full replacement value.

Extensions are easy if you ask in advance. Call or email before the original return time.

You're responsible for the gear from pickup until we receive it back. Loss, theft, or damage beyond repair is billed at the full replacement value on your equipment schedule. Repairable damage is billed at the actual repair cost from the manufacturer or an authorized repair shop. Your COI is how this gets covered: your insurer pays us, and you handle your deductible.

Normal wear (gaff residue, minor scuffs from production use) is expected and not billed.

Tell us about any damage or loss within 24 hours of discovery, ideally before the return appointment. Being upfront about what happened on set makes the insurance claim faster for everyone.

Cancel in writing more than 72 hours before pickup: no charge. Within 72 hours of pickup: 25% of the rental total. A no-show on the pickup day is billed the full rental total.

If a shoot is postponed (not cancelled), we'll do our best to move the rental to the new dates without a fee, subject to availability.

Equipment rented from us may not be sub-rented, lent, or transferred to anyone else without our written approval. The client on the agreement is responsible for the gear, no matter who is operating it.

This page is a summary. The binding terms are in our Master Equipment Rental Agreement, which you sign once and which renews every year. Each rental then gets its own equipment schedule listing the gear, dates, and rate.
