Description
The Kern Paillard Switar 25mm f/1.4 is the normal lens in the Kern Paillard set we rent with the Bolex H16 Reflex, and on 16mm film, 25mm is the closest equivalent to a 50mm standard on a stills camera. f/1.4 is fast for the era, fast enough to handle most documentary lighting situations on the slow film stocks of the period. Switar is Kern's premium line: deeper coating, faster aperture, the precision-machined Swiss build that holds calibration after decades. The DV AR designation is the deep-violet multi-coating that improved flare control on late-period Kern lenses. This is the lens most operators reached for on the Bolex H16 for general coverage, the focal length that does the most work on a documentary or narrative 16mm shoot. Manual focus, manual aperture, C-mount. We rent the three-lens Kern set together; we don't break it up.
