Kern Paillard Yvar 75mm f/2.8 AR
Tight, compressed look on 16mm, the long-lens portrait perspective that defined a generation of documentary film.
Friday pickup, Monday return counts as one day.
Description
The Kern Paillard Yvar 75mm f/2.8 is the long lens in our three-lens Kern Paillard kit for the Bolex H16 Reflex. Yvar is Kern's mid-tier line below Switar, still all-Swiss, still precision-machined, slightly slower in aperture but with the same build standard that defined Kern of Aarau through the mid-20th century. At 75mm on 16mm film, you get the equivalent feel of about a 200mm portrait perspective on full-frame: tight compression, clean separation between subject and background, and the rendering style that defined documentary and narrative 16mm work for decades. C-mount, fully manual focus and aperture, no electronics. AR coating is the era-correct anti-reflective treatment. We rent it as part of the matched set with the 16mm Switar and 25mm Switar, three primes covering the working range a 16mm camera operator actually uses.
