Manfrotto 1004BAC Master Light Stand (12ft, Air Cushioned)

The workhorse light stand, 12 ft max height, 19.8 lb load capacity, air-cushioned columns, and Manfrotto's Quick Stack System that lets three stands clip together for transport. We have six of these and they're the default mount for any fixture under 20 lb that doesn't need a junior receiver: Nanlite FC-120 panels, FC-500C, FS-300C, Intellytech panels, PavoTubes, practical lamps. Aluminum risers in 4 sections with Adapto polymer locking collars, weighs 5.3 lb, sets up in about 15 seconds. Air cushioning matters: when you loosen a locking collar with a fixture mounted, the riser descends slowly under controlled air leak rather than slamming down on the next collar. Replacement air seals are an inexpensive part if a stand starts dropping fast. Same sandbagging rules as anything else, even at 5.3 lb the stand will tip with a 5 lb LED on top if someone walks into it. We pair it with a 15 lb sandbag (the saddle bag, lighter geometry sits the bag higher off the ground).
