Matthews Low Boy Double Riser Combo Stand (366066)

The Low Boy is a combo stand with the capacity of a Hollywood Combo but a max height of 6.4 ft instead of 14.8, built for situations where we need junior-class load rating but not the height. Rated to 72 lb (slightly higher than the Triple Riser, because shorter levers tip less easily), weighs 16 lb, folds to 33.5 inches. Combo head accepts both 1-1/8 inch junior receivers and a retractable 5/8 inch baby pin. Where it earns its keep: low-angle key lights, under-table practical fill, a 2400B at 3-4 ft for dramatic uplighting, frame/butterfly bottom support, or as a base for the Matthews Mini Boom (the wide footprint and 72 lb capacity counterweight a fully-extended boom arm well). Same Rocky Mountain leg, V-shaped brass brakes, and helicoil inserts as the Hollywood Combo. One thing to brief the crew on: at 33.5 in folded, the Low Boy sits below knee level and becomes a trip hazard on a dark set. We tape the legs in a contrasting color for narrative work.
