Renting from us.
Four steps from first email to return, the questions that come up most, and the insurance requirements to send your broker. The full terms are on the Policies page.
First, email us your dates.
Tell us the shoot dates, the gear you're after and a line on what you're shooting, or send us your list from this site. We confirm availability, propose alternates if something is booked, and send an itemized quote within one business day. Holds are good for 72 hours.
Then the paperwork.
You sign the Master Equipment Rental Agreement once, and it renews every year. Each rental gets its own equipment schedule listing the gear, dates and rate. A Certificate of Insurance is due by 12:00 PM Central on the business day before pickup. No COI, no pickup.
Pick up in Archer Heights.
By appointment, in person. Each item is checked out with you and walked through before you leave. The exact address comes with your confirmation.
Return by appointment.
Plan for 30 to 60 minutes while we receive and check the gear. Returns must be inside the return window on your schedule. Extensions are easy if you ask before the original return time.
Questions we get
Is there a minimum?
Our minimum rental is $250, before insurance and any add-ons. This applies whether you're renting one item or several. Smaller add-on items, like cards, batteries and accessories, can be combined with a larger rental but aren't rented on their own.
How are longer rentals priced?
Every item lists its day rate. Three days bill at 2.5 times the day rate, and a week bills at 3 times the day rate. A weekend, Friday pickup and Monday return, bills as a single day. Your quote confirms the total.
Do I need insurance?
Yes, for every rental. General liability of at least $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate naming Fox Frame Productions LLC as Additional Insured, and equipment coverage for the full replacement value naming Fox Frame Productions LLC as Loss Payee, with a deductible of no more than $2,500. Short-term policies are available from Johnsonese Brokerage in Chicago, Athos, Front Row and others, usually priced per project. We're happy to send our requirements straight to your broker. The full list is in the insurance requirements below.
Do you deliver or ship?
No. Pickup and return are in person at our space in Archer Heights, by appointment. We don't ship gear, and we don't currently offer delivery.
What are your hours?
By appointment, Monday through Saturday. Most pickups and returns happen between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM. Earlier or later windows can be arranged when a shoot calls for it.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancel in writing more than 72 hours before pickup: no charge. Within 72 hours of pickup: 25% of the rental total. A no-show on the pickup day is billed the full rental total. If a shoot is postponed rather than cancelled, we'll do our best to move the rental to the new dates without a fee, subject to availability.
What if something gets damaged or lost?
You're responsible for the gear from pickup until we receive it back. Loss, theft or damage beyond repair is billed at the full replacement value on your equipment schedule, and repairable damage at the actual repair cost. Your COI is how this gets covered. Normal wear from production use is expected and not billed. Tell us about any damage or loss within 24 hours of discovery.
Can someone else use the gear?
Equipment rented from us may not be sub-rented, lent or transferred to anyone else without our written approval. The client on the agreement is responsible for the gear, no matter who is operating it.
I've rented from you before.
Then you're already in our system. Just email with your dates and gear list. No need to re-send insurance or repeat the master agreement. We'll reference what's on file.
