3 Legged Thing Jay Carbon Fiber Tripod with AirHed Cine-A
Friday pickup, Monday return counts as one day.
Description
Travel-weight tripod for documentary, BTS, and any shoot where a 5 lb total system makes the difference. The Jay is 5-section carbon legs with a flat leveling base, not a bowl, and the AirHed Cine-A is a fluid head with Arca-Swiss compatible plates. Total system weighs 4.76 lb and folds to 16 inches, which is the only tripod we own that fits in carry-on. The fixed counterbalance and fixed fluid drag are tuned for cameras in the 4-10 lb range, Canon R5C, R8, LUMIX S1II, BMPCC 6K Pro all sit right in the pocket. Each leg detaches to function as a monopod or boom pole. Minimum height of 3.9 inches at maximum splay makes it our best low-angle tripod by a margin. Limits worth flagging: max height tops out at 47 inches (waist-level for most operators), the leveling base is not a bowl so you can't swap in a different fluid head, and the 22 lb head rating is on the optimistic side, we keep it under 12 lb for smooth fluid moves. Not the right tool for a built Alexa or Komodo.
