Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM

The RF 16mm f/2.8 is the affordable RF ultra-wide, full-frame coverage in a 165g package at $299 retail, which is essentially impossible to match anywhere else in the wide-angle world. STM AF, no IS, 67mm filter. We rent it for BTS, vlog-style coverage on the R8, environmental wide establishing shots, real estate. The optical performance has known weak points, corners are soft on full-frame wide open, and there's noticeable distortion that lens profiles correct cleanly. For controlled architecture or commercial wide work, the 16-35 f/4L is the better answer. For run-and-gun and BTS, the 16mm f/2.8 STM is light enough and wide enough that those compromises don't matter.
