Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro EF
Macro tool first, beautiful portrait lens second. The wide focus ring and Hybrid IS make hand-pulled focus on the 100mm Macro genuinely smooth.
Friday pickup, Monday return counts as one day.
Description
The 100mm f/2.8L Macro is the lens we rent when something has to be true 1:1, product detail, jewelry, food, insert shots, wedding ring close-ups, anything where the subject is small enough that conventional lenses run out of magnification. True 1:1 reproduction (a 10mm subject reads as 10mm on the sensor), Hybrid IS that compensates for both angular and linear shift (the only way IS works at macro distances), and a focus ring wider and smoother than any other Canon lens, pulling focus by hand on this lens is genuinely a pleasure. Doubles as a portrait lens on full-frame, where 100mm at f/2.8 with macro-grade close focus produces the kind of beauty close-up rendering most dedicated portrait lenses can't match. Internally focusing, barrel doesn't extend or rotate. 67mm filter (smaller thread than the 85L and 24L II), 625g. One thing to know: the IS motor is audible; use external audio for any close-mic work.
