Panasonic LUMIX S1II

The S1II is the third camera on our shoots that need three cameras, the body that handles slider work, second-angle interviews, multi-cam corporate, and any setup where IBIS is doing real work. It's a 24MP partially-stacked BSI full-frame sensor with 8 stops of 5-axis IBIS, the best in-body stabilization on any mirrorless we've used, plus 15 stops of dynamic range in V-Log with Dynamic Range Boost on. Internal ProRes RAW and ProRes 422 HQ to CFexpress Type B, V-Log native, and ARRI LogC3 via Panasonic's $199 firmware key. That last bit matters: when you're cutting an S1II into Alexa Mini LF footage, recording native LogC3 makes the color match dramatically easier in the grade. L-Mount native, which puts our entire Sigma I-Series prime set, the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art, and the Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8 Art on it without any adapters. Phase Hybrid AF works well in AF-C mode (Panasonic recommends against AF-S, known to misidentify subjects). Open Gate 6K capture at 30p or 5.1K at 60p gives you a 3:2 master to reframe horizontal and vertical from. Things to plan: timecode is Bluetooth-only via Atomos UltraSync (no dedicated port), and Angelbird SE CFexpress cards are confirmed incompatible, bring approved media. Otherwise this is one of the most capable mirrorless bodies in production.
