Description
The 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II is the workhorse telephoto zoom, the lens that does the work on interview B-cam tight shots, b-roll from distance, concert and event coverage, and any setup where you need to compress and separate without a 300mm prime budget. f/2.8 across the entire range, 4-stop IS that's quiet enough for video, and the kind of build quality the second-generation 70-200 IS earned its reputation for. On a large-format sensor, f/2.8 at 200mm produces depth of field equivalent to roughly f/2 on Super 35, extreme separation, very thin focus plane. We pair it with the R5C for AF-driven work, the Alexa Mini LF for controlled telephoto narrative coverage, and the BMPCC 6K Pro when a single zoom needs to cover a lot. 77mm filter. IS off on tripod/gimbal, the feedback loop introduces micro-jitter visible at 4K.
