Description

The EF-mount Helios 44-2, same Soviet-era 58mm optical formula as the PL version, same Iron Glass Adapters cinema rehousing with hard focus stops and 0.8 MOD gears, but in Canon EF mount instead of PL. Runs natively on the R5C, R8, and BMPCC 6K Pro, and on the Alexa Mini LF via the LBUS EF mount. Same optical character that makes the Helios worth renting: pronounced swirl bokeh, reduced contrast wide open, characteristic glow on highlights, and the rendering style that's become a recognizable signature in narrative and music video work. Manual focus only, no electronic communication with the body, the camera shoots in manual exposure mode (or aperture-priority with stop-down metering on bodies that support it). The rehouse is the part that turns a $50 vintage prime into a serious cine character lens. Specialty tool, not a generalist.
