Description
The Helios 44-2 is a Soviet-era 58mm prime, originally a Zenit camera kit lens, that produces the most distinctive bokeh of any lens we own: pronounced swirl, reduced contrast, characteristic glow. Iron Glass Adapters rehoused this copy in PL mount with a proper cinema barrel, hard focus stops, and 0.8 MOD gears, which turns a $50 vintage prime into a genuinely usable cine character lens. We rent it for narrative work, music video, dream sequences, and any shot where a clean modern look is wrong. The optical character is the entire rental case, there is no other lens in our kit that produces this swirl. Pairs with the Alexa Mini LF (PL via LPL adapter) and Komodo (PL via Revolva). Manual focus, T2.1.
