Description

The Zeiss Distagon 35mm f/2 ZE is a manual-focus prime with all-metal construction, T* multi-coating, and the precision feel of a lens built more like an instrument than a product. The ZE designation means Canon EF mount with electronic chip, aperture control through the camera body, EXIF data, focus confirmation. 113-degree focus throw is a luxury for manual focus pulls, far longer than any AF lens, and the engraved distance and DOF scales work properly. We rent it as the manual-focus 35mm in our EF set when the project wants the Zeiss color signature (cooler, more neutral than Canon, with characteristic clarity in shadow detail) or when the workflow is built around precision manual focus rather than autofocus. 9-blade aperture, half-stop click intervals, 58mm filter. Build that shrugs off drops that would crack an L-series barrel.
