Canon 50mm f/1.2L EF
Character over clinical perfection. Glowing, warm, with characterful bokeh, the lens you pick when the look is the brief.
Friday pickup, Monday return counts as one day.
Description
The Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L is our character lens, the one that doesn't care about clinical sharpness because the look is the point. An older 8-element design from 2006 that produces softness, glow, and bokeh that feels almost vintage wide open. On a large-format Alexa Mini LF or full-frame R5C, the depth of field at f/1.2 is paper-thin and the rendering has the kind of warmth most modern lenses have engineered out. Stopped down to f/2-f/2.8 it sharpens significantly and keeps the L-series color signature. We rent it for beauty close-ups, music video hero shots, narrative singles where character is the priority, and any shot where a more clinical lens would feel wrong. EF mount; runs on the R5C, R8, and BMPCC 6K Pro natively (active EF mount), and on the Alexa via the LBUS EF mount. 72mm filter, 580g, light enough for a gimbal, dense enough to feel like an L-series lens. Onion-ring bokeh from the aspherical element divides opinion. We like it.
