Description

The 70-300 f/4-5.6L IS is the lighter, longer alternative to our 70-200 f/2.8L IS II, slower aperture, but lighter weight, longer reach (300mm vs 200mm), and the same L-series optical and build quality. 4-stop image stabilization, full weather sealing, internal focus design (the barrel doesn't extend during focusing), and a tripod collar. We rent it when the project wants telephoto reach without the bulk of the 70-200 + 1.4x extender combination, when handheld weight matters, or when 300mm at f/5.6 is fast enough for the available light. Best paired with the R5C for autofocus telephoto work, Canon's Dual Pixel AF II handles f/5.6 cleanly, or with the Alexa Mini LF (via the LBUS EF mount) for controlled long-lens narrative coverage where the camera doesn't need to follow fast action. 67mm filter, 1.05 kg.
