Sigma 35mm T1.5 FF High Speed Cine Prime
Sharp without being clinical, with smooth bokeh and the consistent contrast of the matched set. The lens that most narrative DPs spend the most time on.
Friday pickup, Monday return counts as one day.
Description
The 35mm is the most-used focal length in the cine set, workhorse for two-shots, interview cover, and any setup where 24mm is too wide and 50mm is too tight. Lensrentals' lab testing measured this lens sharper at center wide open than the Canon CN-E 35mm at the same aperture. The classic narrative 35mm look at T1.5 with full-frame coverage. Part of our matched five-lens Sigma FF High Speed Cine Prime set, 20, 24, 35, 50, 85mm, all PL mount, all T1.5, color-matched across the set, with a consistent 95mm front diameter so a single matte box configuration covers every focal length. These are rehoused versions of Sigma's Art series stills lenses in fully professional cinema housings, same optical formulas, same 50+ megapixel resolving power, in cine bodies with 180-degree focus throw, 0.8 MOD gear pitch, 9-blade rounded apertures, and proper hard stops. Built as one of the few cine sets that genuinely covers 6K-8K acquisition without revealing optical compromises. We run them primarily on the Alexa Mini LF (via our LPL-to-PL adapter) and the RED Komodo (via the Revolva PL-to-RF mount), and occasionally on the Tokina Cinema 25-75mm shots when a B-cam cine kit is needed.
