Canon EOS R5 C

The R5C is the camera that runs alongside the Alexa or Komodo on almost every shoot we do, the B-camera with a real Cinema EOS interface, the interview camera that needs autofocus, the gimbal body when payload matters, the drone payload when the budget allows. It's a 45-megapixel full-frame Cinema EOS body with an active cooling fan, internal Cinema RAW Light up to 8K30 (8K60 with external power), 10-bit XF-AVC, Canon Log 3, and a real timecode port, all in a body the size of a stills camera. On Fox Frame projects it does the work we don't want to put the Alexa on: corporate interviews where Eye AF earns its keep, b-roll and BTS, travel-day setups where weight is the constraint, and anything that needs to cover both stills and video. Canon's RF mount opens up our RF zooms and primes natively, and an EF-to-RF adapter brings the entire Canon EF kit into play. Two things to plan around: battery life is short, figure 25-30 minutes of 4K on an LP-E6NH, so external power via USB-C PD or an LP-E6 dummy is mandatory for any real day. And there's no IBIS, by design (the fan replaces the IBIS mechanism), so you'll want IS lenses, a gimbal, or a tripod for stable handheld.
