Canon 35mm f/2 IS EF

The 35mm f/2 IS is the value play in our EF prime kit, a non-L-series lens that punches well above its $599 price. 4-stop optical IS (which the much pricier 24L II doesn't have), 67mm filter, 335g, the lightest and smallest in the EF set. Not weather sealed, not red-ringed, but optically sharp enough that we rent it as a serious wide on documentary, gimbal, and run-and-gun shoots where the IS earns its rate. Auto panning detection in the IS system handles whip pans cleanly. Pairs well with the R5C, R8, and any Canon EF body, and through adapters runs on the BMPCC 6K Pro and the Alexa (LBUS EF mount).
