Sound Devices' compact 6-channel field recorder, four XLR/TRS combo inputs plus two 3.5mm aux, Kashmir mic preamps, 32-bit float recording, SMPTE LTC timecode, and built-in limiter. The preamps are the headline: -130 dBV EIN puts them among the quietest in production audio. 32-bit float means the recording cannot clip, a door slam, a sudden laugh, an unexpected scream, all captured cleanly with full ability to recover in post. We rent it as the master audio recorder on every interview shoot: shotgun mic on Channel 1, lavalier on Channel 2, scratch out to camera via the TA5 cable. Jams to external timecode from our Tentacle Sync E units. Records to SD card, runs over USB-C, AA sled, NP-F sled, or Hirose 4-pin DC. Bring an SD card and a power solution, the unit ships bare without battery sled.
